AIS

An AIS is an important part of the safety equipment onboard regardless if you are a commercial vessel or a leisure craft.Compared to a class B, the class A AIS updates the position of the vessel more frequently, can send other information along with the vessel position and has priority if the VHF-network is at maximum capacity. Class B are available both as active and passive, i.e. using a transponder that both transmits and receives or just as a receiver, and is the most common one for leisure applications.
